San Jose Ocana Micro Lot - Roasted Mondays Only
This coffee, the #2 from the Guatemalan Cup of Excellence was our clear favorite and just arrived better than our auction notes.
A true value for a great COE.
Our cupping notes: Very floral with citrus (lemon/orange) and strawberry fragrance and aroma. Sweet Acidity, smooth body with flavors of strawberry/orange, cantelope and hints of mango. Pleasantly lingering aftertaste.
San Jose Ocana faro was founded in 1623. Cornelio Lazo Arreaga bought the faro and ever since 5 generations have produced coffee. Now his sons are working on it.
In San Jose Ocaa, owners promote good relations with workers. In fact, in the middle of last century, they donated land (about 5 CABALLERIAS) for people working in the farm and they founded there what is actually Santa Fe Ocaa county.
Quality controls are important in the farm. Visual controls, as well as humidity, fermentation and drying process are part of a daily basis routine. Coffee is wet milled and sun dried in patios. The farm also has depulpers, a resttler and a pulp extractor.
